The Genus pricing methodology.
The Genus pricing methodology is completely different from practically all other contractors, and will show considerable savings between the two methodologies.
For a start, we purchase all materials direct from manufactures and suppliers and employ our own installation teams to carry out the various trades. This is unlike those contractors who sub-contract elements of the project.
Because of this, the difference in price can be significant. For example, the normal contractor will be sub-contracting to other companies who will be placing their own overheads and profit mark up on their work. These mark up are normally 20% to 25%. To this cost, the contractor will be adding costs of about 10% for their site prelims and for their own profit, which might be as low as 5%.
However, the real unseen cost of this methodology is actually a 33% mark up on the basic costs of labour and materials and an unnecessary extra cost to the client.
Genus, on the other hand, place only one mark up on the total cost of the works. Whilst this will of necessity be a higher percentage than that shown by a normal contractor, because we are marking up from a 20 to 25% lower cost base to start with, the difference in the final project price traditionally shows savings of over 15% using the Genus methodology.
